BUHURT IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA
MARTIAL ARTS GOES MEDIEVAL
Vision
WHAT IS BUHURT?
Buhurt is a new, unique sport that combines elements of traditional team sports, like Rugby and Football, with full-contact martial arts like Judo, Muay Thai, Sambo, Jiu-Jitsu MMA, and Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA).
Mission

In a Buhurt match, two teams of five individuals, wearing real medieval armour, and using blunted medieval weapons fight inside of a wooden arena, known as a list.
Buhurt is a full-contact sport. Matches are not staged. At the highest levels of competition, fighters strike as hard as they can.
In friendly and local tournaments, the emphasis is placed on teamwork and grappling, rather than seriously injuring opponents using weapons.
A Buhurt match is fought to the best of three rounds between two teams of three to five players. A round ends when one team gains a 3-to-1 advantage over the other team, or their fighter is the last one standing.
A fighter is considered "Down" when they make 3 points of contact with the ground.
Fighters can use throws, grapples, charges, tackles, weapon strikes, punches, kicks, knees and more to down their opponents.

Buhurt matches are an unreal spectator sport, and a fantastic form of entertainment. Thanks to its blend of Combat and Team sports, it captures a wide audience, and it's easy to follow along with your favourite team.
Like all sports, Buhurt has multiple levels. You can choose to play at the local level, playing weekend pick-up matches with Adelaide based teams, all the way up to the National and International level, where you'll have the chance to become a true legend of the sport through your skill and deeds.
Buhurt Teams are a great way to join a community and find your people, get fit, and learn self-defence skills, but more than anything, Buhurt is just downright enjoyable FUN.
Buhurt training involves strength and conditioning, cardio, teamwork drills, as well as wrestling and striking technique and sparring. You'll also be taught how to use Medieval Weapons and Armour in a controlled setting.
